DECEMBER BLOG

December 2023 : MY FIRST BLOG!!!…… hopefully these will wing their way to you about every 6 weeks….

But for now I am taking this opportunity to let you know about my new presentation system for artworks on paper…..getting rid of glass so the viewer can get up close and personal to the brushstrokes and texture of the paintings…..lighter to carry, hang and ship and no chance of breaking glass….

The surface of the art is treated with a sealer and matt art quality varnish affording protection and preventing any colour discolouration.  The surface can be dusted with a light action if necessary…..some works have a mount which have been spray painted with a very resilient grey paint - sets the pictures off brilliantly!  I AM INCLUDING A PHOTO OF ONE IN THIS BLOG FOR YOU TO VIEW!!  It is called STREET….

The last few months have been really busy and the months have flown by - my son got married and moved to New York  for two years with his new wife Jen and now ……I am off to the Big Apple for Christmas!!

My work happens in fits and starts - in concentrated periods of time and then catching up with life……but my mind of course is ‘always on it’ - ideas flow in, problem get solved,  I am always collecting information visually and putting material aside to use in my mixed media work.

My dog Meeka keeps me company in her basket chair in the studio often shooting my work a derisory look! But I think she likes me doing it as it keeps me close at home with the odd cuddle and biscuit!

It is very cold in winter as my Studio is a large unlined garden shed!!  But once out there I am lost in my paintings….. I have a little heater blowing directly on to me, I am rugged up  and my feet are kept warm and snuggly in old thermal lined walking boots!  Not a pretty sight!
